Accessibility statement

This website is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Our most recent review found no automated errors across the public pages on desktop, tablet and mobile widths, including colour contrast, form labelling, accessible names, heading structure, landmarks and the WCAG 2.2 minimum target-size requirement. The exceptions we are aware of are listed under "Known limitations" below.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Accessibility is part of how we build: semantic headings and landmarks, a skip-to-content link, visible focus states, labelled form controls, sufficient colour contrast in our green and cream palette, respect for reduced-motion settings, and text that reflows without loss of content at 200% zoom and on small screens.

• Navigate the whole site, menus and dialogs with a keyboard alone.
• Use a screen reader; images carry alt text and interactive controls carry accessible names.
• Zoom to at least 200%, or increase text size, without content being cut off.
• Read reports as structured text and export them to PDF rather than relying on the map view.
• Choose "Essential only" cookies without losing any core functionality.

Some parts of the service are harder to make fully accessible, and we are working on them:

• The interactive planning map and boundary drawing rely on visual, pointer-based interaction. Every map result is also presented as text (constraints, distances, scores) so no analysis is map-only.
• Charts in reports convey trends visually; each is accompanied by the underlying figures in the surrounding text or tables.
• Exported PDFs are generated from the page and may not carry a full tagged reading order.
• Some third-party planning and case law source documents we link to are outside our control and may not be accessible.

If you cannot use part of the site, we will help directly — including drawing a boundary for you, providing a report as accessible text or large print, or talking a site appraisal through with you.

We combine automated checks with manual keyboard-only and screen reader passes on key journeys (home, site search, report, pricing, sign-up), plus contrast checks and responsive testing across mobile, tablet and desktop viewports.
